Only 20 years old, BA Components has already grown steadily to become a major manufacturer of vinyl wrapped doors and accessories in the UK and Irish furniture components industry. BA is a well-established and successful supplier of bespoke furniture components to retailers and installers of fitted kitchen, bedroom and bathroom furniture.
Recognised as a leading manufacturer, its product choice extends to over 700 colour and style options with an emphasis on innovative design and quality. Being a family-owned company, BA places great importance on the relationship it has with its customers as well as on building and maintaining long lasting and strong business links with all its dealers and distributors. Since its inception, BA has concentrated its efforts on building an unrivalled reputation for solid service and ongoing product development.
Despite the economic conditions, this market leading furniture and components manufacturer based in Cookstown in Northern Ireland, recently won a contract from a large PLC kitchen supplier in the UK. BA Components won this business from some of the top suppliers in Europe. This business was won on the confidence the company had in BA Components production systems, quality of workforce and quality of the end product. This new business will secure the current workforce and create an additional 20 jobs.
Congratulating BA Components during a visit to the company, the Enterprise Minister, Arlene Foster said: “BA Components operates in a highly challenging and competitive sector and, despite the overall economic downturn, has consistently grown its turnover in recent years. This latest growth will help continue this trend and is testament to the company’s ethos of efficiency and innovation in both product development and processes.
“The company also maintains a focus on marketing and customer care which has helped it secure this significant business ahead of a number of major international suppliers. I wish BA Components every success as it fulfils the orders from this contract, and hope that the deal helps attract further business from external markets in future.”
Also commenting on this recent development, Brian McCracken, BA Component’s managing director noted: “The recession has impacted severely on some retail markets, including the home improvement sector that we target. However, we have remained adaptable and are now beginning to see signs of consumer confidence returning. This is being reflected in the orders we are receiving from retailers.”
In the latest move from this innovative company, BA Components acquired BLP Furniture components out of administration in December. Kieran Mc Cracken, company director commented: “The BLP business has over 100 years’ history and is well known and respected in the furniture industry. The subject of a management buy-out in February 2009, the company had unfortunately become a victim of the current credit crisis and was placed in administration in December. This purchase is a logical step in a planned progress, which has resulted in sustained growth over the last number of years.”
He added: “The purchase of this well established and respected business makes total sense in the further development of both businesses. The position of the joint operation will substantially strengthen BA’s position in the UK market, allowing us to further develop our offering to volume users, while introducing the BLP ranges to our large dealer base of small, medium and large retail outlets allowing both operations opportunities for expansion and growth.”
Production of the full BLP portfolio of MDF wrapped decorative furniture mouldings, veneer wrapped architectural mouldings, PREDOR membrane pressed cabinet doors and drawer fronts and PRODOR profile framed five-piece constructional doors will be maintained and developed, with continuity of supply guaranteed to current customers.
BA Components’ sales and marketing director, David Caulfield commented: “This exciting development provides a great opportunity to enhance our value proposition to both BLP and BA customers. The ethos of quality and design evident throughout the operation means BLP is a strong fit with our strategy to provide more added value and meaningful opportunities for the joint customer base. With a strong sales support presence on the ground and the addition of the product mix and workforce skills in Doncaster, we can all look forward to continued and growing success.”
The joint business will now trade as BA Components with the BLP name preserved but presented in BA corporate style where it will sit comfortably alongside other BA brands; Bella by BA and Zurfiz by BA.

Prior to the acquisition, the arrival of new brands to the BA family was imminent, which in turn meant that the whole branding strategy within the company had to be reviewed. Already well known and recognised as a market-leading brand is the popular and versatile vinyl wrapped range marketed as Bella by BA. This brand has been developed over the last four years and has come to be recognised for quality kitchen and bedroom products, wide choice and great value for money.
The arrival of an exciting new range of kitchen and bedroom doors and accessories in January 2010 that will be produced using exciting new technology and marketed under the new brand, Zurfiz by BA, will add further interest to the BA range. Available in 20 stunning finishes and with numerous finishing touches, it promises to be the exciting development in kitchen and bedrooms for 2010.
With a third brand utilising leading edge design features planned for spring/summer 2010, the news from BA Components to its dealer network and the public in general is one marking exciting beginnings, development and improvement to existing ranges and a fantastic year to look forward to.
To tie all the brands together and build real recognition of the ranges into the future, the company has decided to focus on the common element of each brand: by BA. “This will be the common thread that binds all the brands together in the BA family,” David commented, “and will be the true mark of the quality of each brand. If it’s ‘by BA’ then it is all about quality, choice, detail, inspiration and design.”
The continuing consumer and trade advertising the company is engaged in, will now start to carry the ‘by BA’ mark and wherever it is seen, it will firmly establish each separate brand as an essential element in the whole mix that epitomises the beliefs and ethos of BA Components.
With its sights firmly set on the future, BA is looking to further strengthen its position in the marketplace. Equipped with the strength of its existing reputation, its focus on high quality products, and its plans to market the brand in new and exciting ways,
BA Components will be one of the interesting names to watch in 2010.
