We all know that commercial catering equipment must be made to withstand the rigours of constant usage and many have found to their cost, that buying inferior imported products often has disastrous consequences. As one of the industries’ most respected manufacturers, UK based Parry Catering has become the first choice for many catering companies throughout the country.
A key part of the 70-year-old Parry Group, Parry Catering was launched in 1972. A well known manufacturer for the food and beverage sector, Parry Catering has an enviable reputation for its range of fryers, bain-maries, café and hotel kitchen equipment, which it has been manufacturing in Draycott, Derbyshire for the past 40 years. Parry Catering now sells worldwide, through an established network of distributors.
Careful investment in new technology in recent years has enabled The Group to establish its own steel fabrication department, using ‘cutting edge technology’ to produce a wide variety of stainless steel equipment.
Sales director Nicola Horsfield explains that the company operates in several different sectors selling to the NHS, homecare groups, restaurant chains and cafes through its distribution network. “As we have a fabrication department we are able to manufacture bespoke stainless steel items for a myriad of applications,” she said.
The Parry Group concentrates on selling within the UK but its sister company in Rotterdam supplies Holland and other countries in Europe.
The company prides itself on the quality of its products and the knowledge of its local workforce. The result is a wide range of well made products designed to meet the demands of the 21st century. Parry has a flexibility borne of many years experience of the catering industry and is able to meet customer demands with rapid turnaround times. Its employees have excellent practical product knowledge and give clients a comprehensive customer service.
Parry understands the difficulties faced by its customers in this volatile economic climate and to this end it has devised the Redone budget range, which fills a much needed gap in the market. Nicola explains that although the range has only been in the marketplace for two weeks the Redone range of affordable equipment is already proving to be very popular. The new range has benefited from significant investment, which the company is confident will pay for itself in a short time.
Parry Catering is also looking to expand existing ranges, for example, its popular range of LPG equipment, designed for mobile caterers, is looking to have more items added to increase its versatility.
Managing director, Gary Rose, has been with The Parry Group for 25 years. During that time he has seen the company expand and evolve into the major player that it is today. He believes that much of the company’s success is due to its insistence that customer satisfaction should be at the heart of everything it does. Gary says: “We have listened to our customers and taken on board their suggestions in order to provide products that meet the demands of today’s catering industry.”
Another new area Parry Catering is currently pursuing is product fabrication through its sister division Parry Engineering. It specialises in building a range of trolleys, counter surfaces, storage cabinets etc. from high grade stainless steel, which can be modified to the customers’ requirements.
Delivering a diverse range of products and services to clients throughout mainland UK and in conjunction with its overseas partners, Parry Catering has forged
itself a key position in the catering equipment sector. With its established reputation, the impending success of Redone equipment and a slow return to a more stable economy, the Parry Group looks forward to many more years of prosperity in an ever changing and challenging market place.
